When I watch
the Salmon return…
When I watch the salmon return it always makes me
cry. Not because they are returning to die. After all they are
fulfilling their purpose and destiny. From fresh water to the
depths of the ocean and back this journey has been passed on
from the ancient line that came before them.
When I watch the salmon return I must admit I can
anthropomorphize their struggles, cheering them on as they
battle their way upstream. Some of them so torn and battered
yet they continue forward
against the river's current.
I figure it never hurts to root for natures creations…
When I watch the salmon return (like watching
geese fly overhead in their formations) it always touches me so
deeply. There is a moment or two of pure joy and wonderment.
In that moment there is a “knowing” that life is a sacred
journey.
